Since May 2008, we are sponsoring New Japan Phil Harmonic Orchestra,
one of the leading orchestra in Japan for the purpose to expand the promotion
activity for musical art in Japan like that of Europe, through our contribution. |
The New Japan Philharmonic (NJP) was inaugurated as an independent orchestra in 1972, in response to a proposal by conductor Seiji Ozawa.
In 1997, the NJP concluded a franchise agreement with the Sumida Triphony Hall in Tokyo's Sumida ward - the first franchise of its kind in Japan and now uses the hall as its official base. In addition, the NJP also gives numerous special concerts, including mini concerts at the music rooms of elementary and middle schools and other facilities, and community concerts at local schools. A key development for the NJP's future musical activities is the appointment of the young conductor, Christian Arming, as its new music director from September 2003.
